How to fight your traffic ticket

So you got a traffic ticket. Don't feel bad, it happens to all of us. Now the question is whether you're going to pay it, or fight it. If you decide to fight it, you have a few options. You can:

  • Request a trial. Lots of work and time.
  • Go to court...hope the officer doesn't show up.
  • Hire an attorney. Pricey.
  • Buy an App for your phone that helps you through the process.
  • File a Trial by Written Declaration.

While the choice is yours, we recommend a Trial by Written Declaration. Vehicle Code Section 40902 allows you to contest citations in writing, without having to make a personal appearance in court. While it's not difficult to do, you do need to know what to say and more importantly, what not to say. Having filed literally thousands of these, we know what we're doing. In fact we've gotten tens of thousands of tickets dismissed.
